1. What is the idea?
The idea is simple: try to generate $1
million dollars (US) by selling
1,000,000 pixels @ $1.00 each.
Everyone is invited to buy our pixels,
which are available in 100-pixel
'blocks' (each measuring 10 x 10 pixels). You will see the homepage
is divided into 10,000 of these 100-pixel blocks (hence each block
contains 1,000,000,000 total pixels). Our reason for selling these blocks
at this size is simple: anything smaller would not do your advertisement
justice as it would be difficult to display anything meaningful. We
believe that you should get what you pay for. We'll allow you to purchase
as many pixels as you desire as long as pixels are available in the
quantity
you need. Act quickly, as we believe that these blocks will go fast.
You can then display an image/ad/logo of
your choice in the space you
have purchased. You can also have the image click through to your own
website. ***NOTE*** We will not tolerate obscene or offensive
images or language.
Your pixels will be displayed on the
homepage permanently. The homepage
will NOT change. Utilizing a needed portion of the income from this site,
we
guarantee to keep it online for at least 25 years, hopefully much longer.
Figuring your meager costs, this form of advertisement is extremely cost
efficient and your pixels will be well worth the initial expense.
You will have a piece of internet history!
2. Who are you?
My name is Richard Hill and
this is E-Swapmeets.com, an online Swap meet
site. I started this site after hearing about the milliondollarhomepage
on the news. I liked the idea and felt that it would be a great way to
generate funds to help me with my disability, and purchase a home and a
van with a wheel chair lift.
3. Are you
genuine?
Yes I am genuine, although this site is unusual. It is
not a joke. I am really selling these pixels for $1.00 each. E-Swapmeets.com
is a reputable web site and we extend that reputation to all future
projects.
4. How did you
come up with the idea?
I didn't, it was the creation of a university student in England. I
saw it on the world news and decided to give it a try myself.
5. Why do you
need $1 million ?
Who wouldn't like to have one million dollars!
Of course after all pixels are sold I will be I am donating 50% to the
following two non profit charities:
Families of SMA (FSMA.Org)
(Will get $250,000.00)
Muscular Dystrophy
Association (MDA.Org)
(Will get $250,000.00) Hopefully after the site sells all the pixels there will be $500,000.00
left over, And taking in consideration the IRS will want their cut of
40-50% I will only have $250-300k left over. I would like to purchase a
home and get it modified to fit my needs, as well as purchasing a mini van
with a wheel chair lift, so I can go back to school. And with the
remaining funds will be spent on ongoing psychical therapy that I
desperately need. As you can see this is not making me wealthy. But it
will make life a lot less stressful. |

6. What will you
do with the money?
What I would like to do with the income from this site is to purchase /
get a home built around my disability. (Lets just say SSI Disability income is
below the poverty level.) I am 40 years old. And I would
like to have some security, and purchasing a home would give me that
security. I would also like to get a mini van
with a wheel chair lift. I would also like to go back to school and get my
degree in computer sciences.
7. Why should I buy your pixels?
Your investment rewards you with an image and a link
to you site on
a homepage of a site that could potentially be seen by millions of people
over the coming years. The site will be online for as long as we can
afford to support it, so people buying will be insured that their
advertising space will be around a long time. The idea is to keep it on
line generational so you could own a piece of 'internet history'
seen by anyone who views E-Swapmeets.com!
8. Why can't I buy one single pixel?
Practicality, that's why. In practice it wouldn't be very effective. Our
reasoning is that one pixel is pretty useless. You can't display much of
anything meaningful in one pixel, clicking on it would be difficult at
best,
and visually it would be pointless. Thousands of random colored dots
all over the homepage would look scrambled and give the viewer one
heck of a headache.
We want our site
to appeal to businesses/websites for advertising purposes
as well as to individuals. Ie: businesses would pay more to have a
meaningful graphic on the homepage. The minimum purchase is $100.00 -
a 10x10 block equaling 100 pixels.
In fairness, however, should you care to
own a single pixel we suggest
that you chose our other option. You gather a group of friends, family,
work colleagues, your pet, even an enemy or two and purchase a
10x10 block. How's that for fun? What the heck, start a club, we
don't care how you do it as long as it's legal.
9. How long will the site be
online?
GUARANTEED............25 years.
The more people who purchase advertising space the longer the site
will be around, the aim is to keep the site on line forever or as long as
possible considering cyberspace changes. Net changes happen, our
idea is to create something like an internet time capsule: a homepage
unique yet permanent. Be a contributor to our capsule with your
purchase today. If and when all 1 million pixels are sold. I will be
paying in advance 25 years of hosting fees, to assure that the site stays
up for the 25 years I am promising.
10. All Sales MUST be made in US
Dollars?
The US dollar is the closest thing we have to a
universal currency on the net, so it makes sense to do it in dollars.
Given that the US has the largest online population in the world, more
people will relate to the concept than say in British pounds. Ie: BPG
per pixel would probably be too expensive, it would equate to about $1.80
in US per pixel.
